Not worthy

It was not a good time to be a child in the industrial revolution.

Children were looked at as being barely human.

As a result kids as young as six years old were working in the hard labor job next to heavy machines.

These kids would work between 14-19 hour days with little or no breaks.

They were barely paid if paid at all.

The kids were known for getting into the small parts the parents couldn't get too.

It was normal for children to lose a finger or an arm at work being around these heavy machines.

Nevaeh is five, I couldn't imagine seeing her go to work next year.

A lot of kids died from these work condition and health problems from working that much in the factories like this.

Children weren't valued.

In biblical times, children were an afterthought.

They couldn't hold their own or support themselves so they were looked as being less important.

So when children rushed to see Jesus or were taken to see Jesus the disciples rebuked the children.

Jesus wasn't happy about this and said in Mark 10:14-15…"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

Jesus put a value on the young like there never was before.

They mattered to Jesus.

We have to accept children and treat them in a loving way.

There are still stats that show the majority of people who get baptized are under the age of 13.

After that, it's more difficult to be baptized.

Churches and places that put an emphasis on the younger generations have a value unlike other Churches.

When people see the children are held in high regard at a Church, more people come to it.

The children bring the adults to the Church.

Jesus put a value on children.

Do you feel like you were valued as a children, that people looked at you with great importance?

The more people that focus on showing respect and mentoring their young shape the future generations for the better.

Jesus showed the younger generations love.

We can't complain about the younger generations unless we are doing something to help them out.

It's easy to complain about younger generations I have heard…

  • They don't have the respect for adults.
  • Their just different and not in a good way.
  • They expect everything to be handed to them.
  • They don't know how good they got it.
  • They have no manors.
  • They have no respect for authority.
  • They don't understand what Church is all about.
  • They need to respect the way we do Church.

Any other one's I am missing?

Add to it.

It's so easy to talk bad about people, so we are at a dilemma…

Keep complaining or start helping.

The choice is ours.

Jesus loved the little children.

Do we?

If we are trying to be more like Christ, what can you do to show the love he showed to children?

What do you think?

Have a great day.
