We all play diferent roles.
Student, father, wife, assistant manager, middle schooler, freshman, assistant to the regional manager or volunteer could be some roles.
Usually our goal in life is to move up the chain.
Do we get disappointed when we don't make if we don't make move up?
Are we happy with the role we have right now?
I am about a year away from having my masters, I think about six or so credits and a 75 page paper.
I have often heard what are you going to do after you are done with your masters? Are you going to look for a senior job or move on?
My response, "Well….no. I think I am right where God wants me and if he wants to move me he would make it well known."
Usually the next question, "So do you get a raise with this?"
My response, "I don't think or expect too."
They are usually confused what a masters would do for me.
Their last question is usually, "Does this give you the potential to move on to a higher position?"
My response, "Well…yes I guess it does."
They respond, "Oh, ok."
I never thought I would go for my masters degreee, but after Hailee got her masters I couldn't let her have the higher degree, right men ;-)
Just kidding.
A degree won't change my role, but I have learned a ton from it that will make me better.
People always want that new and better role.
Sometimes it's once we get to the top we realize what we had going for us at the previous spot was great.
There is always a change in role though.
Jesus was respected, people flocked to where ever he was going.
Yet he knew his time was almost up and told his disciples in a short time this would happen in the middle of versee 33 to 34…
"They will condemn him to death and will hand him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise."
This is the third time Jesus has told his disciples he's going to die and later will be resurrected.
Jesus was at the top, people rushed, thousands by thousands came to see Jesus yet in a short time we see him beat, flogged (very painful whipping), spit on and killed.
Jesus was on top, yet he went to the lowest of lows.
He was killed for us.
Each and every one of us.
He gave up being a respected spiritual leader (In certain peoples eyes) to the worst death for the worst of mankind at the time for us.
For our sins and mistakes.
He did that for us.
A complete role reversal.
It wasn't the end, he rose three days later.
Sometimes we get tied into a role and trying to get to the next level.
If we focus so much on a future role, we can't do the role we have right now to the best of our abilities.
Jesus did an amazing thing by switching roles, but he knew what he was doing?
What role do you need to focus on doing?
How can you make that role better?
What do you think?
Have a great day.
