Everything’s not ok

Some situations are not what they seem.

They might have a certain preception that things are good when it couldn't be further from the truth.

We see this daily in marriages, jobs, school, out among our friends, the business we work at and Church.

We get the idea that everything is ok or just fine when we need a wake up call.

We need a makeover.

A clensing.

Shows like Extreme Home Makeover, The Biggest Loser and I am starting to throw Undercover Boss in this mix where they are there to clean and fix problems in ourselves, homes and business's.

We need a good cleaning sometimes.

Jesus did this with the Church too.

There were some things going on in the Temple he wasn't ok with.

People would use the Temple as a shortcut in the city in an area that was for prayer and where Gentiles could worship.

It also became a place for merchants to sell things and money to be exchanged.

Jesus was not ok with the Temple being used for this.

He went in and drove people out, he overturned tables of money changers and those who were selling other things. Nobody was allowed to carry things through the Temple.

He then told them this in Mark 11:17…

"My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations, but you have made it 'a den of robbers.'"

Jesus cleaned house.

There are things he wasn't happy with in the Temple.

How a place for those to come and worship was being taken advantage of.

The religious leaders at the time thought this was okay.

Jesus was there to tell them otherwise.

This made some of the leaders angry, others feared him because this amazed the crowds.

Because of this they looked for a way to kill him.

Jesus completely changed the way things were being done at that time.

It made some people unhappy and shocked others.

There was a difference.

Jesus performed a wake up call on the Church at that time.

Sometimes that is what we need in life.

Whether with our health…

Our marriage…

Our grades….

Our work…

Our spititual life…

Do we need a wake up call in life?

It's never easy to do.

But it's the way it is.
