Nevaeh is stiff competition in Wii Bowling.
The other day Nevaeh and I were playing and she bowled a 236.
She hands down beat me.
Once every great great while she will beat me in Bowling.
It won't even be close sometimes.
I have to be on my game if I want to beat her.
Twice over the past week Nevaeh has had six packs (six strikes in a row) the first was six strikes in a row and working towards a perfect game, the second time she was mad the first five frames then reeled off six in a row.
The second time I edged her for a 226-208 victory.
Man, imagine if she tried at the start?
It's hard to always bring our A game.
We always try, but we sometimes come way short.
I used to have major anxiety with playing sports.
In high school, it was normal for me not to eat the meal before competition or all the meals of that day.
My stomach would be in knots.
I don't think I performed half as good as I could have.
I wanted to do my best but fell way, way short.
We can't always bring our A game.
No matter how hard we try in life, sometimes it's not good enough.
We would like to bring our best when it comes to school, following directions, relationships and sports etc.
Yet we don't.
The disciples were in the same boat.
It was late at night and Jesus told his disciples to keep watch while he went out and prayed.
They tried but fell asleep.
This is what Jesus said to them in Mark 14:38…
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
Jesus was directly talking to his disciples about keeping watch for him.
They fell short, not once, twice but three times.
The third time was the final straw, at this point the disciple who betrayed Jesus was coming with the guards.
I believe the disciples wanted to stay awake and tried, but couldn't.
They tried to bring the best and listen to what Jesus asked them but they couldn't.
They tried to bring their A game but fell short.
The words that Jesus said means so much.
You have to bring you're A game to staying away from temptation.
Prayer works and we need to have things in place to keep us from failing.
None of us want to do bad, but we often fail.
We are human.
This is why Jesus died on the cross, while we fall short time and time again.
Jesus does not.
Today is the day we recognize Jesus being betrayed and dying on the cross.
He did that for us.
Because we make mistakes and in life don't always bring our A-game.
We fall short.
Jesus covers us for falling short.
If you don't know that coverage, Jesus is there, there are enough Churches or people that can help you to this.
Jesus died for you, he died for me.
He died for everyone.
Today can be a new day, a day when the past is the past and we can look forward.
Jesus does that for us by dying on the cross.
All he wants is for us to have faith.
We all make mistakes, but Jesus can forgive them all.
Is that what you need today?
Have a great Good Friday and weekend.
