Why we do what we do

There are certain times we do things and wonder why we did them.

This can be very confusing when we look back on life and wonder why we do what we do.

Sometimes we have done things for so long we don't know why did them in the first place.

I can sometimes reflect over my life and think, man why did I do that?

It's a self reveling thing.

Sometimes it can make us feel good how we spent our time.

Other times we can look at it being a waste.

This year I wanted to make a greater effort at reaching out and talking to some of my family and friends that I love so much but just haven't talked to in a while.

Being out of state from the only state I have ever lived in for the past 18 months has been harder on some of my relationships.

So this year I have been making a better effort of talking to people on Facebook, texting or on the phone.

It has been awesome.

It makes me wonder, why I haven't done this much more?

You really forget why you do what you do sometimes.

We get bogged down by what we do that we miss the point.

We start putting our time at different things that have no real significance.

Have you ever looked back and reflected on some of the thing you have done that have wasted time?

There comes a time when we all wonder why we do what we do and if we are truly making a difference.

Some of the people that wanted Jesus crucified, had no idea what they were doing.

The man over judging whether or not to be crucify Jesus didn't understand why they wanted him dead.

Mark 15:12-15…

"What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?" Pilate asked them. "Crucify him!" they shouted. "Why?" What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!" Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified."

They wanted him dead.

Yet when Pilate asked the crowd why they wanted him dead, there answer was kill him?

This is like a kid at a candy store saying, "I want candy!'

The mom responds, "Why?"

The kid yells, "I want candy!"

It doesn't make any sense.

The religious leaders wanted Jesus dead so much yet they couldn't explain to Pilate the reason why.

Pilate was so confused, he brought a man in who committed murder and something he did once a year (Release a prisoner) and asked the crowd which one to release.

They choose the murderer.

They wanted someone dead but couldn't even tell why.

We do things that we don't understand.

Some is a tradition and this is the only way we have ever done it.

We forget there are better ways sometimes of doing things.

Why do we do what we do is a question we have to consistently ask.

I have to look back and say did I do something productive or did I waste time?

Tough question, but even the toughest of questions can lead to a humble response when we put the focus on others and not on ourselves.

What do you think?

Have a great day.
