There are times in our lives when we can just be excited.
Yesterday was a great day.
Hailee and I experienced some great times together.
We went out and had lunch.
In the middle of lunch I asked Hailee, "Did you hear that?"
"Hear what?" she replied.
I said, "Just listen."
At this point she smiled and said, "No kids."
Yesterday we got a babysitter (Thank you Marlee) and went out for lunch and a movie.
I honestly can't remember the last time we went out for just a dinner and a movie.
It's was awesome.
So yesterday we got to worship God, eat good food without kids and watch a movie on opening weekend.
It was great.
We have to cherish these times because they don't happen that often.
Do you know what I mean?
Hailee and I rarely have time for just us.
Yesterday was a little different.
I love our kids, but time away from them can be great too.
Mary was so excited when she found out God blessed her with a child.
This could be a time of self doubt and being scared because she was pregnant and not married (A huge offense against the soon to be husband that could have deathly results).
Yet she knew it was from God and this was a blessing.
She was so excited she sang a song about it in Luke 1.
This is verse 46 and 47 from Mary…
"My soul glorifies the Lord
And my spirit rejoices in God my
Savior,
For he has been mindful
Of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call
Me blessed."
Her life could be threatened but she chose not to worry.
Instead she rejoiced God for the blessing in her life.
We have so many blessing to be thankful for just like Mary.
Mary was facing some things that could cause her to be an outcast, but she knew it was from God and felt blessed.
She was grateful.
What can we be grateful for today?
Yesterday was Mother's Day, a time to cherish our mom's.
At the same time it was Sunday, a time to cherish God.
So while we were able to honor our mom's yesterday we still spent time honoring God.
It was awesome.
I thank God for these great days like yesterday.
What are you thankful for?
Even during the tough times we have things we can be thankful for.
Have a great day.
