The terror, the terror

Scary movies freak me out.

I am 28 so I should know the movies are fake and can't freak me out.

Wrong.

I still get shocked by scary movies.

Horror movies still freak me out.

In a way they still get me nightmares.

I don't know why, but they still scare me.

Sometimes we just wake up terrified from them.

I don't enjoy them so I don't watch them.

Yet there is something about being freaked out.

It might not be in a movie it might be something in real life.

I am terrified about what would happen if I lost my family and close friends.

I think about different things that just scare me.

We all have things that scare or freak us out.

What's scary to you?

Do you ever think of an angel as being scary?

I really don't but in the Bible times, this did happen.

Luke 2:8-9…

"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flock at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified."

In the next verse the angel calms them down and gives them great news about Jesus being born, but their first thought was being scared.

Why would you be scared to be in the presence of God?

It's God.

He has powers beyond our own imagine.

In the Old Testament they got this.

There was power in God and when you saw an angel, it could be the end of you.

They were scared.

Why would God show up randomly to the shepherds?

I wonder if this is what they thought.

Why us?

God reveals himself in many different ways.

Prayer, reading the Bible and circumstances (Things we go through) are some of the way God appears.

They used to be freaked out by this, do we do the same thing today?

Would you be in awe if you saw an angel?

There are things in life that freak us out and we might feel unprepared for.

Jesus is there for us during these times.

The angel calmed and encouraged the shepherds, he does the same for us today.

Have a great day.
