Hiding light

There is a dark part in the movie Little Nemo.

They drop the mask that has the divers address in a deep abyss.

As they are going after it, it gets dark.

Really dark to where they can't see anything.

Finally, they start to see a light, it ends up to be a dangerous fish.

For a while that dangerous fish is all they can see.

That little light helped them see, but it was dangerous.

Normally lights aren't meant to be scary.

Our kids go to bed with night lights.

There is just something about being in the dark that scares them.

When we have light it changes things.

Jesus gives us this illustration in Luke 8:16-17…

"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open."

While this could easily be applied the way it is, Jesus is going back to the previous section.

Dealing with the word of God.

That if you spend time in the word of God and don't share it's value with anyone.

This is like putting a light under the bed.

The word of God is powerful, life changing.

It can take murders and the vilest of people and change their lives to do good.

It can help those dealing with depression and hatred and make them better.

It teaches us a love that we need and we can share.

It's powerful.

Yet it easy to get wrapped into the thought the word is wrong.

I have heard and said most of this…

• It's been translated to many times and lost it original meaning.
  
• It's written by human not God so it's flawed.
  
• It contradicts itself.
  

The list could go on forever.

Yet I have experienced what true love was all about from the Bible.

I have learned how to forgive the same people who have hurt me the most.
