Imagine being different.
Someone you are not today.
The majority of people in our country have debts.
It could be because of living larger then what they should.
It could be the burden of student loan.
It could be because they borrowed money and have no way of paying it back.
Debts go beyond money.
They can go to issues of the heart.
Sometimes people do things for us we can't do back for them.
We feel that we still owe that person something.
Maybe this requires us to look at different ways of doing things.
How to be nice to that person, do different things for that person.
The bigger the debt, the bigger we feel like we should do something for them.
A woman goes to a house where Jesus was having dinner with a Pharisee.
She came wiped her tears on his feet, cleaned them with her hair and anointed him with oil on his feet.
This is what the Pharisee thought when he saw this in Luke 7:39…
"…If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is-that she is a sinner."
The guess was this woman was a prostitute.
A prophet wouldn't touch or deal with someone who was a sinner.
Jesus knew the man was thinking this and told him the story about two people that owed a man money.
The one person owed about 20 percent of his yearly salary and the other person owed money for just under 1.5 years salary.
So let's say one person owed $8,000 and the other person owed $50,000.
The man forgives both debts, which one is more thankful.
The one who owes more money.
It's the same way with faith.
The women owed a lot and Jesus still forgave her.
There is nothing Jesus can't forgive.
I was talking to a man who served in Vietnam the other day.
We were talking and I was telling him that I know someone who thinks they are going to Hell for what they did in Vietnam.
This man said, "That is something I have struggled with and even with faith, still think about sometimes."
If you doubt yourself and we all do, know this, there is no sin God can't forgive.
One of the main writers in the New Testament was Paul.
He was first known for murdering Christians.
God's grace forgave him and he was able to change.
If God can forgive a murderer, he can forgive you.
No debt is too big for God.
God can forgive mean people, people that have abortions, people that have killed someone else in war or other ways and anything you can imagine.
Why does he do this?
Because you are worth it and he loves you.
Jesus loves you and one of the biggest ways he shows this is through forgiveness.
Could you use forgiveness today?
God is always there to listen.
It just takes going to him with a prayer.
Jesus can forgive us for everything.
Will we live like it?
Have a great day.
