18 years of pain

Injuries are never fun.

Injuries can impact who we are physically and mentally.

I have had knee problems sense second grade.

I was basically born without any grooves in my knee caps.

This cause my knee caps to stick out higher than normal.

As a result they were loose and would give out.

This would mean my knee cap would dislocate.

It would happen enough that I knew how to throw it back in place.

This would happen every six months or so from second grade till my junior year in college.

I went to a couple of different doctors throughout these years, they all said the same thing…

"ACL and MCL are good, no other problems, go to PT and get stronger."

Finally a knee specialist said the next time it pops out of place we are going to scope your knee.

Three or so months later when it happens he tells me I have no grooves in my knee caps and there is nothing he can do.

After years of pain and playing sports with hesitation, I got a second opinion.

Dr. Dodds looked at the X-Rays moved my knee around and said "Something is not right with your knee dude."

(Yes, she did actually say dude).

She decided to scope my knee and then do a lateral release (Strengthen ligaments on one side of my knee and weaken the ones on the other side).

It was in the middle of hockey season and she told me I would be out for 3-6 weeks.

After surgery it went up to three months (From fully being able to walk without a brace).

My knee was messed up.

Later on my other knee was fixed too.

Within a year after the second knee surgery my doctors (Dodds and Amy Worthing?) said my knees are better than they have ever been my entire life.

It's a good feeling.

Today we have doctors that can fix a lot.

Hundreds of years ago they didn't have what we have today.

There was a lady in the first century who was crippled for 18 years.

A spirit made it so she was bent over and couldn't straighten up at all.

Finally Jesus intervened and healed her.

Some people were mad about the miracle healing because he did it on the Sabbath, a day off from work.

He rebukes these people calling them hypocrites and tells them how they untie their animals from their stalls during this same day.

This was said at the end of the section in Luke 13 verse 17…

"When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing."

Way before medical science got to the point it was today.

Jesus healed people from things they would never be healed from.

I don't think we fully grasp how big of a healing this was.

A women was in pain for 18 years and was healed.

Jesus is here to heal us, not as much with the physical side, but the inside, the heart stuff.

I would still have a lot of hate and aggression towards the people that hurt me physically and mentally if it wasn't for Christ.

He has healed me and taught me how to forgive and move on.
