Everyone dies.
It's a fact of life.
Nobody has found a secret to live forever.
One day we will all die.
Not exactly the most positive way to start this, but oh well.
In the Old Testament, there was a heavy view among people, that if you were hurt, couldn't see, sick etc, you did something to tick God off.
Therefore he was getting back at you for your wrongdoing.
There were stories of people subjected to internal bleeding for years, they lived as outcast of society.
Everyone stayed away from them.
Jesus tells the story about how 18 people died when the tower in Siloam fell on them.
Some people would respond, they did something wrong to deserve that.
This is how Jesus responded in the second half of verse 4 and 5 of Luke 13…
"Do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."
Bad things happen in life.
It's a sad but true thing.
None of us have superhuman power.
We are not Superman, The Incredible Hulk or any real superhero (except batman he's fully human).
We can't prevent death from happening or accidents to happen.
But there is something we can do.
Repent.
"Death is the common denominator for everyone. Only repentance can bring life as people prepare to enter the kingdom (The Bible Knowledge Commentary)."
If you have heard to term repent but never understood what it meant…
This is a dictionary meaning… to feel remorse (for); be contrite (about); show penitence (for).
In others words, turn away from what wrong you are doing and go in a different direction.
Repentance is more than saying I'm sorry.
When we repent, turn away from our wrongs and have faith in Christ…
No matter how you die, you will live forever.
Everyone has an earthly death, not everyone will die.
God gives us eternal life.
A life that goes behind the earthly realm.
Repent and faith will get you there.
Bad things can happen to good people.
There will always be death that shocks us and bad things that happen to good people.
But when we have faith, it gives us a life beyond our earthly life.
That's something everyone could look forward too.
How are you and your relationship with God?
Have a great day.
