Division not peace

Peace on earth.

How nice it would be?

I remember how you would hear people say this on the Miss USA, Miss Universe or whatever other pageants you watched.

What is one thing you would do with the world?

Insert person's name here says, "Peace on earth."

Everyone then claps.

Some many people associate Christianity in a peaceful way.

Take it true Christianity is peaceful and loving.

But there is also a division this creates.

It's one I never think about.

Jesus talks about this division in Luke 12:49-53.

This is a little blurb in verses 51-52…

"Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three."

Christ causes divisions?

How could this be?

Christ caused division because some people would believe in him and others wouldn't.

In his time this split Jewish families that some would believe in him as the Messiah and other wouldn't.

It created a division in immediate families.

I know that divisions can be created by things like this.

I didn't even take the name Christian yet and I was at an extended family Christmas Eve celebration.

Zach and I took off at about 10:30 to go to Christmas Eve service.

We said our goodbyes and started walking down the driveway.

At this point a relative came storming out of the house.

JOEL!!!!!

I turned around.

At this point my relative said, "This is a Catholic family, nobody is going to one of those Christian Churches!"

My brother and I looked at each other laughed and said, "Goodbye and Merry Christmas."

There are divisions even when there shouldn't be.

Who would have thought the division believing in Christ would have caused.

I still believe in Christ and even though I am a sinner and full of mistakes.

Some things are worth divided over.

Faith in Jesus is something I believe in enough to cause division (I wish it didn't though).

Have a great day.
