Grown men acting like babies

Can a middle age man act like a middle school girl? Years ago I worked at this job with a husband and wife. Just like at any job, you can have disagreements. At this job, the husband and I didn’t see eye to eye on a subject. As a result of the disagreement, this man went around the entire business bad mouthing me and trying to get people on his side.

Later on I found out he did this and I was talking to his wife at the time. I asked the wife why he would go behind my back instead of coming to me? She responded, “You have to realize sometimes dealing with my husband is like dealing with a 13 year old school girl, full of drama.” OUCH. I felt bad for this guys manhood. His wife just ripped him apart to someone he had conflict with. Are we people that represent what we believe? Just because we disagree with someone mean we throw our character out the window? How are we when things don’t go our way?

1 Corinthians 16:13…
“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”

Conviction time, do I do everything in love? My answer is no. I still need to mature and grow up in different ways. Looking at the verse above, another summed this section up, act like adults! Babies cry and act awful when things don’t go their way.

Are you like a baby or like an adult when it comes to the trials you face in life? We need to be able to have discipline and maturity. Paul goes on in this letter to the Corinthians that even people that came to him with bad news were able to encourage him.

As Christians we are called to do everything in love, it’s a tough lesson. Each day is a trial to see if we can do this. Are you doing everything in love? If you failed at that so far, start fresh, show love to everyone and see what happens if you continue to do this. Take this challenge and see what happens. God calls us to live in love, are you ready to take the challenge?

Have a great day.

Show respect to gain respect

To get respect takes action. There are plenty of people that might like you but not deeply care. How could this be, not genuine care? Are you willing to do to the little things that can make a huge difference? How do you go about gaining someone’s respect?

A while ago I had a good friend. I really enjoyed this friend and would try to help him out from time to time, he would do the same for me. At first we did things that sacrificed some of our free time. Soon it became less then it got to the point we would hang out with each other but not deeply care. It wasn’t their fault or my fault but both our faults. The friendship died and I think for some reason we lost a sense of respect for each other. It’s even worse when you are in a relationship whether a friendship or dating when you are the only one that cares.

Paul wanted to share his faith with everyone and would put himself on a lower level then others to help them experience Jesus. 1 Corinthians 9:22-23…
“To the weak I become weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.”

Paul wanted others to see the love of Christ. In order to do this he had to do anything necessary in order to gain the respect of the people he was trying to talk to about Jesus. He was willing to do whatever it took to share this message of love and grace. There was nothing that was to low for him to do.

To gain respect we have to give respect. Nobody wants to hear hollow words. It’s like a person talking about needing to lose weight and ordering two double quarter pounders for lunch. We have to be willing to make a sacrifice to gain respect. Paul was willing to do this. If you want respect it requires trying to go and help people out. Paul was great at doing this to reach people with Christ and it’s about reaching people where they are at. I need to remember to do this. Becoming less so I can reach more. What about you?

Have a great day.

Separation is a way of life

Do you think separation could be a good thing? I remember a blanket that Ty loved. He loved this blanket and couldn't be separated from it. It seemed like it was going to be extremely tough to get this blanket away. It had to happen, how tough would it be?

Thankfully Nolan came a long. We were able to transition him from the blanket letting him know it was for babies and the new baby would need it. He loved that blanket but loved the fact he could give something he loved to the baby. Sometimes separation can be a good thing. Other times it cannot.

While detachment worked for Ty, there are other things we don't want to be detached from. Part of the mystery of God is how he is there for us. Romans 8:38-39...

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Whatever you have done, you are still loved by God. We are all sinners, ministers, pastors and priests etc are no different. We all sin, make mistakes and yet God gives us all that chance to turn back to God through Jesus.

The love of God is there for you!

Have a great day.

God is unknown to me

If God was real, how could _______ happen?

One of the problems with faith is you don’t always know right away why something happened or how it could be to prevent you from something a lot worse.

For a long time, this really kept me from knowing God.

Dealing with abuse, not really knowing my dad when I needed one, seeing my step dad that became my real dad moving the Nebraska were some of the thoughts that ran through my mind.

Where was God?

If God was real he would have prevented me from having to go through this hurtful time and looking for a father.

It’s just not fair.

I remember family of mine (Cousins, aunts, uncles and distant relatives) that would always say you got the perfect family and not being able to tell them how messed up my family really was.

Where are you God?

My life sucked and I don’t see you stepping in.

Sometimes faith is hard because the answers aren’t right in front of us.
Paul was preaching in Athens.

Athens was a place that had a lot of knowledge and like to debate and hear people talk.

They did this openly and even had a statue to an unknown god.

They brought Paul to hear this message he was proclaiming.

Paul explains the people are very religious but don’t get the point and who God is.

Acts 17:24:25…

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.  And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything.  Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.”

God doesn’t need a fancy church building.

He honestly doesn’t need anything from us.

What we gain from God on the other hand is huge.

Eternal life.

Life that doesn’t end here.

God gives us Jesus and faith in him gives us so much.

Grace, forgiveness, mercy, love, care, a listener, someone to here are problems, someone who wants us to live a great life with purpose.

God is amazing.

It took a while for me to realize this.

God is love.

He gives us love and strength to endure.

When I grew up as a kid, I thought where is God?

When I look back I know he was right there with us.

I am here today writing this because I believe in Jesus.

I believe in faith.

I believe that God forgives every sin.

I am living proof that God forgives and watches over us when we think he does not.

God does not have to be unknown to you.

God loves you, gave up his one and only son for your sins.

Jesus loves you and wants to see you with him in heaven one day.

Heaven is for everyone that believes.

Do you believe?

What’s faith to you?

Do you need to make the next step?

Have a great day.
